In London, very few people are using their own cars anymore. The rest of us, we find ourselves mostly taking Ubers. Why? Because of parking. For example, we go from High Street Kensington to Mayfair for £14 on an Uber. But if we drive they charge us £14 per hour (of stay) to valet park. Getting a car from valet takes longer than getting an Uber. And the £14 is probably going down to £8 when the same Uber fleet is self driving in a few years. Soon owning your own car will be like owning a horse. Something that some people who love driving will do. Everyone else will use fleets of self driving cars that will take us anywhere
for less than the cost of parking.
