refugee crisis in europe

Europe’s moral obligation

Globalisation is not just for goods, services and capital. It is also for people.

Europe is a Union, but even when it wasn’t, back in the 1940s, its people travelled from one country to another to escape Hitler. They were all patriots but their relocation, at least for the fortunate ones, saved their lives.

Immigration has economic effects, that’s understandable. But it also affects the current and future values of a country (or a union) including its concerns for foreigners.

This is why I believe that Europe has a moral obligation to protect refugees.
